A native to Southwest Kansas, Dr. Kohlhorst has been practicing in the Garden City area for over 19 years.

Dr. Kohlhorst attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where he received his degree in dentistry. He continued his formal training for several years beyond dental school, completing residency training that specialized in the treatment of tissues around the teeth (such as bone and gum tissue). 

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest recognition awarded in periodontics, Dr. Kohlhorst is set apart from others in his specialty. This board certification helps to put our patients and referring dentists at ease when treating and working with him. He uses the most proven techniques in order to ensure success in treatment. He also has memberships in the Kansas Dental Association and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Kohlhorst believes that successful periodontal care requires both cooperation and understanding between the patient and the treating periodontist. He prides himself on maintaining the highest standards, and works to uphold the highest standard of care in placing dental implants. Dr. Kohlhorst works closely with his patients' primary dentists or other referring specialists to provide the best possible care. He feels that strong coordination yields the best aesthetic and functional results. He focuses on offering treatment alternatives and answers your questions in a calm, non-pressured environment. Dr. Kohlhorst is always concerned and compassionate about your well-being. He will address any concerns or anxiety you have about your treatment, and places great importance on patient care and comfort, taking care to ensure that you are relaxed and comfortable.

Dr. Kohlhorst is married with 3 children and enjoys spending time outdoors.
